For the rest of this study our attention is turned to the New Testament only, and to the ten (10) Greek words from which the interpretations of "love" are derived. Each of these ten Greek words is of one of three (3) root meanings. Seven (7) are of the "phil" root. One (1) is of the "eth" root. Two (2) are of the "agap" root.

Here are the details of the seven (7) "phil" root Greek words from which we find nineteen (19) "love" interpretations.

PHILEO (fil-eh'-o) ~~ (verb) To have affection for ~~ appears ten (10) times: Mat 6:5 & 23:6; Luke 20:46; John 15:19 & 21:15-17; 1Cor 16:22; Titus 3:15; and Rev 3:19

PHILADELPHIA (phil-ad-el-fee'-ah) ~~ (noun) Brotherly love ~~ appears four (4) times: Rom 12:10; 1Thes 4:9; Heb 13:1; and 1Pet 1:22

PHILADELPHOS (phil-ad'-el-fos) ~~ (verb) To love as brethren ~~ appears one (1) time: 1Pet 3:8

PHILANDROS (phil'-an-dros) ~~ (verb) To be fond of man, as a wife ~~ appears one (1) time: Titus 2:4

PHILARGURIA (fil-ar-goo-ree'-ah) ~~ (noun)Love of money, avarice ~~ appears one (1) time: 1Tim 6:10

God's love is the greatest power in the universe. It is creative and vastly superior to anything in this natural world. It banishes evil and brings forth good. It is with His love that God bestows being to that which was not. And when God's children quietly express deep feelings of godly compassion toward others in a group, spontaneous benevolences can occur supernaturally, as if brought forth by a powerful magnet ~ ~ ~ ~ the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
