Matthew 13:10-17 ~~ And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Mark 4:10-12 ~~ And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Luke 8:9-10 ~~ And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Mark 4:13 ~~ And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
Luke 12:30-32 ~~ For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. |

Most definition sources say that a
parable is a COMPARISON, and that is what we must keep in
mind, because there are other similar kinds of comparisons (analogies,
similies, metaphors, allegories, etc) which are also found in the Bible.
"Parable" is typically defined in the Dictionary as "A comparison; specif., a short ficticious narrative from which a moral or spiritual truth is drawn; as the parables of Christ". However, Jesus expects us to know that there are more parables (comparisons) than just those that are spoken (verbal) ~ (Mark 4:13).
In essence, a parable is similar to two parallel lines. If you will notice, both words begin with "para". The same dictionary defines "para" as "A prefix meaning beside in its senses: 1. Beside, along side of, beyond, aside from, amiss, as in parallel, paragraph, paraphrase, parody".
A parable is by nature an "analogy"; which is defined as "A relation of likeness, between two things or of one thing to or with another, consisting in the resemblance not of the things themselves but of two or more attributes, circumstances, or effects." Therefore, we will be learning from parables that were expressed in miracles, events, and other kinds of biblical passages, as well as from those which were spoken by our Lord Jesus ~~ that is: both spoken and demonstrated.

The Parable of The Ten Virgins WHAT IS THIS PARABLE ABOUT? ~~~ The necessity of being filled with the Holy Spirit and being a light unto the world.
WHAT IS BEING COMPARED? ~~~ WHAT IS BEING IMPLIED? ~~~ We must receive Jesus' baptism (washing) with the Holy Spirit and we must also "drink" of (become filled with) the Holy Spirit. We must be neither lukewarm, nor ensnared by the cares of this world, nor out of fellowship with our Lord Jesus (The Word Of God) (John 1:14 and Revelation 19:11-13). We must remain faithful unto death, endure unto the end, and enter the resurrection with joy unspeakable and full of glory.
The Miraculous Feeding of the 5000 WHAT IS THIS MIRACLE ABOUT? ~~~ Evangelism.
WHAT IS BEING COMPARED? ~~~ WHAT IS BEING IMPLIED? ~~~ The work of God's church (the spiritual body of Christ) is to constantly receive and share God's holy word and gospel of salvation under the teaching, inspiration, and guidance of the Holy Ghost.
The Lazarus Event WHAT IS THIS EVENT ABOUT? ~~~ Mankind's 4000 years in hopeless spiritual death, and God's rescue into his eternal spiritual kingdom by Jesus Christ the King.
WHAT IS BEING COMPARED? ~~~ WHAT IS BEING IMPLIED? ~~~ We should invest our entire belief and trust in Jesus Christ who told us, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
The Flood and Noah WHAT IS THIS HISTORICAL HAPPENING ABOUT? ~~~ The first step in God's regeneration of mankind with the baptism principle, leading from a carnal depravity through successive steps into an ultimate spiritual purity in a new heaven and new earth.
WHAT IS BEING COMPARED? ~~~ WHAT IS BEING IMPLIED? ~~~ With God all things are possible. God can be grieved by misconduct. God will continue to eliminate the bad and replace it with an elevated good.

1Corinthians 2:9-14 ~~ 9 ~ But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. ![]() 10 ~ But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 ~ For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 ~ Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 ~ Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 ~ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spitit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. |
